Mute Raj GhatRaj Ghat is a memorial in Delhi where Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, was cremated following his assassination in 1948. It is a simple black marble structure set amid a stunning garden and is visited by people from all over the world who come to pay their respects to the great leader. Every Friday, a prayer is held to commemorate his memory. Raj Ghat is also home to the samadhis or memorials of other notable Indian leaders, such as Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri, and more? The name Raj Ghat translates to "King's Bank" about its location on the bank of the Yamuna River.In addition to being a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, Raj Ghat celebrates his life and philosophy through sculptures, pictures, and photographs. The Gandhi Memorial Museum at Raj Ghat showcases his life and the philosophy of the Sarvodaya Movement through a film that is screened in both English and Hindi. The film is shown every day except Thursdays from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm.
